Treatment of waste water and supply of drinking water to local communities. Planning solutions for waste management. Rehabilitation of environmental problems. These are the areas where we are collaborating, contributing, developing and fulfilling a common vision of responsibility to the environment.
Careful management of water is becoming the highest priority in society, and one that is not just important to the environment, but to our very lives.
The exchange of knowledge, innovation, environmental safety and an accessible range of services for managing water resources are becoming a strategic advantage in the selection of energy services offered by the Petrol group.
Murska Sobota treatment facility
Based on a concession acquired in 2002, the Petrol company constructed a treatment facility in Murska Sobota. The project covers 42,000 population units and includes mechanical treatment, biological treatment of carbon and nitrogen compounds, chemical precipitation of phosphorus compounds and also above-standard purification through stone filters and disinfecting with UV light. Following a successful period of trial operation, the treatment facility started full operation in April 2005. In addition to urban waste water, the facility also treats technological waste water from local industry, while it is also able to receive and treat cesspool effluent.

Today results indicate that it is treated water flowing into the river, and the treatment facility has removed more than 94 percent of contaminants. This is an important contribution towards protecting the environment in which we live and an incentive for Maribor to maintain a responsible attitude to nature in everyday life.
