Competition to design the cover of the in-house magazine for Petrol Group employees receives a prestigious European award
The competition to design the cover of the in-house magazine Energija med nami, which has been running at Petrol since the beginning of 2018, has received an award as one of the best examples of internal communication excellence in Europe. The Feiea Grand Prix 2019, organised by the European Association for Internal Communication, took place on 21 November in Zürich and saw top prize in the internal graphic category going to the Energija med nami in-house magazine cover page project, which is created by the employees themselves.
The Energija med nami in-house magazine was Petrol’s first in-house publication and it remains one of the main internal communication tools, the aim of which is to create a committed and satisfied community of employees. As it serves as the magazine of the employees of the Petrol Group, created by employees for employees, the editorial board decided to invite employees to exercise their creativity and design the magazine’s front cover. The main idea behind the competition focuses on creativity, one of the main values of Petrol, so the winning entries are crafted by employees using all forms of artistic creation, with the magazine’s graphic designer Maja Rostohar helping to turn them into magazine covers. The cover of the second number of the magazine in 2018 was the first in the series – and we have now had 12 covers based on our staff’s artistic designs. Up to now, 123 employees have taken part in the competition.
Aleksander Salkič, director of corporate communications and editor-in-chief of Energija med nami: “The prestigious international Feiea Grand Prix recognises excellence in internal communication in Europe. Petrol have received an award for their series of competitions to design the front cover of our magazine, which is living proof of the value we place on creativity and additional proof of the fact that the magazine is created by the employees themselves. I am proud of the fact that the profession has recognised the excellence of Petrol’s internal graphics over the last two years, as the ideas come from the employees themselves, and this places us among the very best in Europe.”
