Petrol is a proud recipient of the golden innovation award from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Zasavje Chamber of Commerce annually selects the best local innovators. This year, the selected best innovations from Zasavje also included the "Software solution for adaptive energy management in the glass industry", which is the result of joint work of the companies Steklarna Hrastnik, Petrol and Solvera Lynx. The innovation is intended for the use and management of dispersed production resources and adaptive loads and was awarded the Golden Award by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 1 October 2020.

Energy flexibility is a commonly known concept of the operation of energy systems, where production energy sources behave as a whole, and the emerging surpluses are stored for later needs. Flexibility is of course possible in various industries, including glass. "The award-winning innovation represents a software solution for adaptive energy management in the glass industry, designed to use the management of dispersed production resources and flexible loads. Product innovation represents an innovative solution for optimising and aggregating local sources, electrolyzers, solar power plants and diesel electric generators in order to provide financial savings and lower ecological footprint in the glass industry," said Borut Jereb, project manager at the Petrol energy management centre. The software solution is a set of communication control units installed at individual production sources and under adaptive loads and a solution that combines, aggregates, predicts and optimises all included production sources and adaptive loads.

For the past 24 years, the Zasavje Chamber of Commerce has been regularly announcing a tender for the best innovations in the Zasavje region. This year, 27 innovation applications were submitted, totalling 136 participating innovators, which is a record number.
