Project Overview
ATLANTIS (Improved resilience of Critical Infrastructures AgainsT LArge scale transNational and sysTemic rISks) brings together partners from across Europe, including Petrol d.d., Ljubljana, with the aim of strengthening the resilience and cyber-physical-human (CPH) security of European Critical Infrastructures (ECI).
The project goes beyond addressing individual assets, systems, or infrastructures. Instead, it focuses on system-level resilience against large-scale natural disasters and complex attacks that could potentially disrupt vital societal functions.

Project Description

projetk atlantis

The mission of the ATLANTIS project is to enhance the resilience and protective capabilities of interconnected European Critical Infrastructures (ECI) exposed to evolving systemic risks stemming from existing and emerging large-scale, combined cyber-physical threats and hazards. The goal is to ensure continuous operation while minimizing cascading effects within the infrastructure itself, the environment, other critical infrastructures, and the affected population. This will enable public and private stakeholders to address current and future challenges through the implementation of sustainable security solutions.

The ATLANTIS mission will be achieved through:

  • Improving knowledge of large-scale vulnerability assessments and long-term systemic risks.
  • Enhancing systemic resilience of ECIs through innovative, adaptive, flexible, and scalable security measures ("security by design") and tools ("innovation").
  • Strengthening effective collaboration between critical infrastructure operators and governmental security stakeholders, while preserving the autonomy and sovereignty of critical infrastructures.
  • Providing an open TRL-7 technological framework, offering AI-based solutions to critical infrastructures for improved AWARENESS, CAPABILITY, and COLLABORATION in managing systemic threats.

The ATLANTIS solution will be validated and demonstrated through three large-scale cross-border and cross-sector pilot projects:

LSP#1: A large-scale cross-border/cross-domain pilot in the fields of transport, energy, and telecommunications (Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, and France), with active participation from Petrol d.d., Ljubljana.
LSP#2: A large-scale cross-domain pilot in the fields of healthcare, logistics/supply chain, and border control (Cyprus, Greece, and Croatia).
LSP#3: A large-scale cross-country pilot in the FinTech/financial sector (Spain, Germany, Cyprus).

The ATLANTIS project, with the significant involvement of Petrol d.d., Ljubljana, represents a major step forward in ensuring the security and resilience of key European infrastructures in the face of increasingly complex threats.
