Successfully completed first phase of gasification of the Municipality of Šentjernej

The Municipality of Šentjernej and the company Petrol have successfully completed the first phase of the construction of the gas distribution network on the Dobrava – Šentjernej section. From 1 September onwards, existing users of liquefied petroleum gas will be supplied with natural gas, which is a versatile, convenient and economical source of heating.

The municipality as the concession holder and the company Petrol as the grantor built a 5.3-kilometre-long distribution network as part of the Concession Agreement on the implementation of an optional local public utility service of the natural gas distribution network operator in the Municipality of Šentjernej. With this concession deed, Petrol d.d., Ljubljana started performing the activity of system operator of the distribution network in the area of the municipality for a period of 30 years.

The distribution network will operate at a pressure of 4 bar and will be supplied with gas from the transmission network, via the Dobruška vas measuring and regulating station (MRP). Natural gas will be available for use from September 1st. The total investment value is approx. 1.1 million euro, and the estimated consumption of natural gas in the municipality of Šentjernej is 800,000 Nm3 per year.

"The second phase of construction or expansion in the area of the Municipality of Šentjernej, where the gas network will be built, provided that sufficient interest is expressed for connection to the gas network, will be divided into four areas. The expansion is expected to gain about 500 new users," said Primož Kramer, Director of the Gas Systems and Products Sector at Petrol.
