Petrol and its partners were awarded the national silver innovation award by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia

Adaptive energy management contributes to the stability and flexibility of power systems. This means that production energy sources behave as a whole, while emerging surpluses are stored for later needs. Adaptive energy management in the glass industry brought Petrol and projects partners the 2020 national silver innovation award, presented by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia.

"The software solution for adaptive energy management in the glass industry” is the result of the joint work of Steklarna Hrastnik, Petrol and Solvera Lynx. Smart and adaptive energy management significantly improves efficiency and helps reduce costs. This is especially crucial in the industry, as through it we can influence a company’s competitiveness and business performance.

And what is this product innovation? “This is an innovative solution for optimising and aggregating local sources, electrolyzers, solar power plants and diesel-electric generators. In other words: through a combination of different technologies and processes, we managed to find a solution that brings financial savings and a reduced ecological footprint in the glass industry," said Borut Jereb, project manager at the Petrol energy management centre. The software solution includes communication control units installed at individual production sources and under adaptive loads, which are then linked into the software solution that combines, aggregates, predicts and optimises all the included production sources and adaptive loads. “The software solution can perform the optimization automatically or per a user’s request,” added Jereb.

In 2020, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia celebrates 24 years of presenting innovation awards at the regional level - the project described above also received the gold award of the Zasavje Chamber of Commerce and Industry - and 18 years at the national level. This year, as many as 221 applications were submitted to regional chambers, and the national committee assessed the 43 innovations given the gold award at the regional level.
