Petrol has set up its first ultra-fast EV charging station
Kozina service station now boasts Petrol’s first ultra-fast EV charging station. Together with the fast charging station already at that service station, they form the first charging hub in the country. Petrol will set up three more ultra-fast EV charging stations in the first half of the year, two in Slovenia and one in Croatia.
Petrol's extensive international network of EV charging infrastructure is expanding intensively, this time with its first ultra-fast charging station that enables charging with a power of up to 350 kW. “Our first ultra-fast charging station represents an important step in the development of sustainable mobility at Petrol, in the country and in the region. By setting up ultra-fast charging stations, we enable our users to charge their electric vehicles in the least amount of time. This significantly improves user experience and strengthens our position as the most comprehensive provider of sustainable mobility in the region,” said Tadej Smogavec, PhD, the Head of Sustainable Mobility Development at Petrol.
The first fast and ultra-fast electric charging hub in Slovenia
In addition to the first ultra-fast charging station, the Kozina service station now also boasts a very special combination of a fast and ultra-fast electric charging station. This in practice means that four electric vehicles can simultaneously quickly charge their batteries; two using the fast charging station with a total power of up to 100 kW and two using the ultra-fast charging station with a total power of up to 350 kW.
Petrol’s first ultra-fast electric charging station at the service station in Kozina will be followed by three more this year, namely at the Maribor East and Tepanje West service stations in Slovenia and in Dugopolje near Split, where the ultra-fast charging station will be set up in front of the shopping centre.
Petrol’s network of charging stations is constantly expanding
“EV charging infrastructure represents one of the two main segments of Petrol’s sustainable and innovative business. By expanding Petrol’s network of charging stations, we follow the vision of becoming an integrated partner in energy transition, with an excellent user experience,” said Jože Bajuk, MSc, Member of the Management Board of Petrol. Petrol’s goal is to add 1,300 EV charging stations to its portfolio by 2025. This year, the company has already set up 10 new EV charging stations, including three fast and one ultra-fast charging stations.
Petrol in Slovenia currently provides charging and management services at 106 AC charging stations and 44 DC charging stations (of which 26 are DC SODO charging stations) as well as only management services at 25 AC charging stations. In Croatia, the company provides charging and management services at 4 AC and 9 DC charging stations and at one DC charging station in Montenegro.
The above-mentioned fast charging stations as well as the first ultra-fast charging station are being set up as part of the NEXT-E project. At the end of the project, which includes leading companies in the fields of electricity, oil, gas and equipment manufacturers, the network will consist of 222 fast (50 kW) and 30 ultra-fast charging stations (150-350 kW) in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Romania. By participating in this and similar strategic projects, Petrol helps to build an interoperable and non-discriminatory network of electric charging stations in the key TEN-T corridor in Central and Eastern Europe.
