Petrol and Pivovarna Laško Union taking a sustainable path together
The Laško Union brewery was the location for the official handover of electric vehicles and Petrol vehicle chargers, with the event symbolising the sustainable direction that both companies are taking together in the hope of securing a brighter future for their respective environments. The brewery’s fleet of company cars now includes four new BMW i3 electric cars, served by two new charging stations. Petrol will take over the entire running and maintenance of the new sustainable portion of Laško Union’s vehicle fleet.
The official handover of the four BMW i3 electric cars and the opening of two additional charging stations installed at the premises in Ljubljana took place in the courtyard of the Laško Union brewery, which is part of the Heineken Group, on 22 October. The speakers at the event were Rok Vodnik, member of the Petrol management board, and Zooullis Mina, CEO of Pivovarna Laško Union. The latter was keen to highlight the role of joint cooperation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions: “At Laško Union, we firmly believe that it is our responsibility to reduce CO2 emissions and do our bit to move to a low-carbon society. We have set ourselves ambitious targets, and our team are working intensively to identify partners and projects that will help us achieve these targets. I am delighted today to announce the start of a partnership with Petrol’s e-mobility programme. While the four electric cars that we have added to our fleet are perhaps only a small step forward, every step towards reducing emissions counts.”
Until now, the brewery had two charging stations in Laško and one in Mestinje (in front of the Vital building); now, together with Petrol, they are embarking more intensively on the sustainable path offered by e-mobility. This is, and will in future be, a very important factor in quality of life around the world. Both companies have care for the environment and sustainable development inscribed in their strategies, which demonstrates how seriously they are taking the issue.
At the official handover, Rok Vodnik, member of Petrol’s management board, took the opportunity to say: “Electric vehicle leasing is in no way simply a passing fad. With business partners such as Pivovarna Laško Union, we are actively working towards the transition to electric mobility. Petrol doesn’t merely follow e-mobility trends: in Slovenia and the wider region, the company has been one of the first big players to invest in and help to create new forms of mobility".
Petrol’s electric vehicle leasing scheme and charging services provide companies with cost-effective travel that produces fewer emissions – which is one of the key steps in the development of smart cities. Pivovarna Laško Union therefore joins the numerous other enterprises enjoying the comprehensive e-mobility business solutions offered by Petrol. The cooperation between the two companies is another example of good practice in the region, which has great potential in the area of e-mobility.
If we compare the basic commitments made by Petrol and Pivovarna Laško Union in relation to their respective environments, we find many parallels: high-quality and safe products, the reliable, cost-effective and environment-friendly creation of a low-carbon society, and sustainable development as a strategic undertaking.
