Rescue exercise - earthquake with trapped miners and a group of students

Together with more than 60 participants, they attended a rescue exercise resulting from a strong earthquake, with the epicentre in Idrija, which caused damage to electrical wiring, and consequently miners were trapped in the active part of the mine, some of them injured, while a group of high school students were also trapped in the tourist part of the mine. As the scale of the accident was large, all the active mining rescue units of Slovenian mines were called for help, including Petrol Geo.

The task for the Petrol Geo representatives was to rescue the trapped injured supervisor from the mine, where they descended the shaft with their companions after a call for help, and measured the concentration of O2, CH4 and CO2, thus securing a safe environment for the rescue team with dogs. At the same time, as part of the exercise, they also helped to lift the injured person to the surface. According to the expert evaluators and observers, the rescue exercise was successfully completed.

Petrol Geo, next year's organiser of the meeting and exercise

Before the participants started the rescue exercise, an expert consultation on mining, safety, protection, and rescue was held in the morning. In addition to presenting professional articles and the mining profession, the Coordination Committee of Mining Rescue Units of the Republic of Slovenia issued a decision that Petrol Geo will be the organiser of the next year's meeting and a rescue exercise in Lendava.
