Petrol improves effectiveness of street lighting in Croatia

Reducing light pollution and greenhouse gas emissions is becoming increasingly important. Not only is lighting the most striking infrastructure of a city, it can also be the basic infrastructure for the development of smart cities. In addition to reducing operating costs, effective and energy-saving street lighting also provides good luminous comfort for public space users and greater traffic and general safety. Petrol will also set up environmentally friendly lighting in two Croatian towns: Sveti Ivan Zelina and Pušća.

In the town of Sveti Ivan Zelina in Zagreb County, Petrol will replace over 3,400 old and inefficient street lights following the energy-savings model. The total value of the contract amounts to EUR 1,760,000 including VAT, without any financial contribution from the town, because the project is based on the ESCO model, in which investment funds are provided by Petrol. In line with the energy-savings model, Petrol will replace the old street lights with modern energy-efficient and environmentally friendly LED lights, and provide maintenance to the system, along with energy savings, for the next ten years. The project will generate annual electricity savings of over 2,500 MWh, while ensuring greater traffic and pedestrian safety, and exerting a significant impact on reducing light pollution. The entire renovated lighting system will be integrated into the TANGO technical information system, a comprehensive control and analytics system designed to satisfy all current operational needs of cities and infrastructure operators. The town will thus have complete overview of the savings achieved and the analytics.

Modern, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lights in Pušća as well

As part of the street lighting renovation project in Pušća carried out in line with the energy-savings model, Petrol will replace around one thousand street lights with modern energy-efficient and environmentally friendly LED lights and provide maintenance to the system for the next ten years. The value of the contract is estimated at EUR 610,000 including VAT. In addition to annual electricity savings of over 700,000 kWh, the project for improving the energy efficiency of the street lighting system will provide the Municipality of Pušća with modern LED lighting, which ensures higher quality of life and greater luminous comfort, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions and light pollution. Measurements and verifications of electricity savings will be put in place for the entire system.
